Richard Murphy (born 21 March 1958) is a former British chartered accountant and political economist who campaigns on issues of tax avoidance and tax evasion. He advises the Trades Union Congress on economics and taxation, and founded the Tax Justice Network .
Professor Richard Murphy co-founded the Tax Justice Network, the Fair Tax Mark and Finance for the Future. He founded and directs Tax Research UK. He co-created the Green New Deal and remains an active member of the Green New Deal Group.

The great fear amongst many people in the UK at present is that Labour might form a new government this year but will not change anything because of their commitment to harsh fiscal rules that appear to promise more austerity. The Taxing Wealth Report 2024 shows that this austerity is not necessary.
