Raj Kapoor (pronounced [raːdʒ kəˈpuːɾ]; born Shrishti Nath Kapoor; 14 December 1924 – 2 June 1988), also known as Ranbir Raj Kapoor, was an Indian actor, film director and producer, who worked in Hindi cinema.

Raj Kapoor was the son of well-known Indian actor Prithviraj Kapoor, who acted both in film and on stage. After apprenticing in the Bollywood production studios of the 1940's, at 24 years of age Raj Kapoor produced, directed and acted in Aag (1948), with his new company, RK Films.
He won the title “Best Director of the Millennium” by Stardust Awards. In 2002, he was given the name “Showman of the Millennium” by Star Screen Awards. In March 2012, his brass statue was placed at Walk of the Stars at Bandra Bandstand, Mumbai. Raj Kapoor’s Brass Statue.
