Impulse Airlines was an Australian airline which operated regional and low-cost trunk services between 1992 and 2004. It was acquired by Qantas in 2001 to form the basis of Qantas' new regional airline QantasLink. The airline had its head offices on the grounds of Sydney Airport in Mascot.

May 31, 2020 · Impulse Airlines was formed as a small freight carrier by Gerry and Sue McGowan in 1992. It started operations on 18Dec1992 following the acquisition of Oxley Airlines from the receivers in Dec1992. It commenced regional airline services in Mar1994.
Services initially operated between Sydney and Melbourne and quickly expanded to include Brisbane, Newcastle and Hobart. Together with Virgin Blue which also commenced services in mid-2000, Impulse Airlines brought upon a substantial restructuring of the Australian airline industry.
Dec 7, 2017 · Impulse Airlines officially ceased operations on May 24, 2004. The day prior Jetstar began operations using the Boeing 717s operated by Impulse. The 717s were eventually retired, replaced with the Airbus A320.
