Damien Oliver (born 22 June 1972) is an Australian retired thoroughbred racing jockey. Oliver comes from a racing family; his father Ray Oliver had a successful career until his death in a race fall during the 1975 Kalgoorlie Cup in Western Australia. In 2008, Oliver was inducted into the Australian Racing Hall of Fame.
Dec 16, 2023 · The legendary jockey retired after a stunning victory on Munhamek in the Damien Oliver Gold Rush at Ascot. He also won the final three races of his career, including Devine Belief and Magnificent Andy.
Oliver is one of a select few to have won the 'grand slam' of Australian racing being the Melbourne Cup, Caulfield Cup, Cox Plate and Golden Slipper. He won Melbourne Cups on Doriemus and Fiorente but the most famous was that on Media Puzzle for Irish legend Dermot Weld.
