1990s. 1999 - Bank of Commerce (Malaysia) Berhad merges with Bank Bumiputra Malaysia Berhad to form Bumiputra-Commerce Bank Berhad. 1991 - Bank of Commerce merges with United Asian Bank. In a major restructure, the merged banks become Bank of Commerce (Malaysia) Berhad, under holding company Commerce-Asset Holding Berhad (CAHB).
In 2009, CIMB Bank and CIMB Islamic moved to a new headquarters, the 39-storey Menara Bumiputra-Commerce which houses CIMB Group's consumer banking franchises. The building site was the location of the bank's predecessors, Bank Bumiputra and the United Asian Bank.
