Delmas Shipping, based in Le Havre, France, was a containerized-freight and ro-ro shipping company, mainly carrying trade between western Europe and Africa. It was the largest cargo carrier between European and African ports, and Europe's oldest extant shipping line.
The shipping company was initially formed in 1867 to operate a passenger service between La Rochelle and the coastal islands of Ile de Re and Quiberon. By 1878 they entered the coal importing trade from SouthWales to France and in 1895 expanded services to North African ports.
