The Staatliche Berufsfachschule für Musikinstrumentenbau Mittenwald, a fulltime vocational school, offers training in violin, plucked instrument, woodwind instrument, and brass instrument making. The village also celebrates its heritage, specifically in violins, at the Geigenbaumuseum in Mittendwald.
The state vocational school teaches practical skills as well as theoretical knowledge in the areas of modern and historical bowed instrument making. These courses are meant to complement the daily training which the apprentice receives in his or her workshop.
Today, the State Vocational School for Instrument Making trains the next generation of instrument artisans. It has expanded beyond violins, violas, and cellos to include brass, woodwinds, and other plucked instruments like guitars.
