Established in January 1994, it was focused on developing and publishing games based on original content (most notably the Crash Bandicoot and Spyro game series, both of which are currently owned by Activision Blizzard) and Universal Studios characters, movies, and television series.
The series was originally produced by Universal Interactive, which later became known as Vivendi Games; in 2008, Vivendi merged with Activision, which currently owns and publishes the franchise.
