The devastated Dolmuchi takes on the name Dochi and joins Ttaeng Choo (Lee Kyung Young) and Dae Ho (Lee Sung Min) in a band of outlaws known as Kundo. The bandits go after wealthy tyrants who prey on the poor by stealing from the rich and giving back to the poor.
The year is 1859, feudal Joseon is plagued with numerous natural disasters, poor harvest, poverty, hunger and death. But the rich nobles are only concerned with their own wealth and continue to exploit and persecute the poor.
