Scared Stiff (Chinese: 小生夢驚魂) is a 1987 Hong Kong comedy thriller film directed by Lau Kar-wing and starring Eric Tsang, Chow Yun-fat and Michael Miu. This film has been seen as a Hong Kong take-off on the plot of the 1984 US thriller Dreamscape.
Overview. Kate's a single mom rock star recovering from a nervous breakdown; David is her psychiatrist turned lover. After David buys an old Charleston mansion and Kate and her son move in with him, strange events occur including the discoveries of a secret hidden attic and the diary of the murderous slave trader who owned the home.
Scared Stiff is a sneaky little son of a bitch! Like a dang jack in the box slowly moving towards the inevitable shocking finale. On the outside it's your typical 80s supernatural horror film but on the inside...it's a dang magic show of your wildest imagination.
Scared Stiff is a seriously bonkers Hong Kong film that starts off as a comedy, turns into a slasher film and then has a supernatural Stephen King’s Christine turned to eleven scrapyard car mindcontrol crashing finale.
