This is a city park, but is really a small hiking mountain. It's in town, so conveniently accessed. Great exercise, but not overly strenuous. My dogs love it, and it's a great way for a short outing and exercise without a long drive. On top is a cross that is lit at night (hence the name Cross Mountain).

Cross Mountain is located on a historic marl and limestone hill with an elevation of 1951 ft. It was used as an Indian lookout prior to early settlers. In 1847 during the settling of Fredericksburg a timber cross was found on the hilltop. Early Fredericksburg pioneers gave this hill the name “Kreuzberg” or Cross Mountain.
