Momo is a 1986 fantasy film directed by Johannes Schaaf and based on the 1973 novel Momo by Michael Ende. It is about the concept of time and how it is used by humans in modern societies. The film features the final acting role of actor / writer / director John Huston.
Momo is a young orphan girl who lives in the ruins of an old Roman amphitheater and becomes friends with everybody in the neighborhood. But when a powerful international corporation starts stealing everybody’s time, nobody has any time left for her, let alone their friends or families.
After Momo tries to convince her friends of the existence of the gray men, she must flee from the town before she is abducted by the gray men. Momo finds protection in the mysterious home of Meister Hora, an old man who explains what exactly time is and confides in her that he is in control of time.
Momo is a captivating and heartwarming fantasy movie from 1986 based on the novel by Michael Ende. Directed by Johannes Schaaf, the film stars Radost Bokel as the titular character Momo, along with Mario Adorf as Beppo, Armin Mueller-Stahl as Meister Hora, and Klausjürgen Wussow as Nicola.
