In the Victorian period, David (Willie Aames) and Sarah (Phoebe Cates), two teenagers, travel with a caravan from Baghdad to Damascus. At an oasis, the white slave agent known as the 'Jackal' raids them, mainly to add the beautiful young Sarah to his harem of mistresses.
After their caravan is attacked and their respective families butchered by Arab marauders, teenagers David and Sarah flee across the desert. But the desert is filled with danger from the elements, animals and the unwholesome appetite of the Jackal, a sheik who wants Sarah for himself.
