Kirk Douglas founded Bryna Productions, named after his mother Bryna Demsky, in 1955, one of the first Hollywood stars to become an independent producer, and one of the most successful of the period.
Following the example of Lancaster, Kirk created his own production house, Bryna Productions (named after his mother) in 1955. Bryna Productions had several successes and was largely responsible for launching the career of a talented young director named Stanley Kubrick.
