Tan Sri Dr. Koh Tsu Koon (born 26 August 1949; simplified Chinese: 许子根; traditional Chinese: 許子根; pinyin: Xǔ Zǐgēn; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Khó͘ Chú-kun) is a Malaysian politician. He was the Chief Minister of Penang from 1990 to 2008 and was appointed a Senator; a member of the Dewan Negara , the upper house of the Malaysian Parliament .
Tan Sri Dr. Koh Tsu Koon (Cina: 许子根, pinyin: Xǔ Zǐgēn; lahir 26 Ogos 1949) ialah seorang ahli politik dan pernah berkhidmat sebagai Ketua Menteri Pulau Pinang yang ke-3. Pada pilihan raya umum 2008, Koh memutuskan untuk tidak bertanding bagi kerusi DUN, sebaliknya bertanding bagi kerusi Parlimen Batu Kawan.

Tan Sri Dr. Koh Tsu Koon is the former Chief Minister of Penang state (1990-2008) and the former Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department of Malaysia (2009-2013). He is presently the Chairman of Wawasan Education Foundation (WEF) and the Chairman of the Board of Governors of Wawasan Open University (WOU) headquartered in Penang, Malaysia.
Tan Sri Dr. Koh Tsu Koon took office as WOU’s Chairman of the Board of Governors on 1 March 2017. With a first degree in Physics from Princeton, Tan Sri Dr Koh received his MA and PhD in comparative education from the University of Chicago and was also a Fulbright Scholar at Stanford University.

I was born in Penang in 1949. My father gave me the name of “Zigen” (“Tsu Koon” in Hokkien), meaning, “a son with roots.”
