Joseph Warren Keifer (January 30, 1836 – April 22, 1932) was a major general during the Spanish–American War and a prominent U.S. politician during the 1880s. He served in the United States House of Representatives as a Republican from Ohio from 1877 to 1885 and from 1905 to 1911.
General Joseph Warren Keifer was born in Clark County, Ohio on January 30, 1836 to Joseph and Mary Keifer. A graduate of Antioch College, Keifer became a lawyer and practiced law in Springfield from 1858 until 1861, at which time he enlisted and served as a major with the 3d Ohio Volunteer Infantry.
Joseph Warren Keifer (1836-1932), Civil War soldier, Ohio congressman, and Speaker of the House, was reared on his father's farm in Ohio. He attended Antioch College and, after admission to the bar, began the practice of law in Springfield, Ohio, in 1858. After only a few years in the law, he enlisted in the Union army in April 1861.
