Roberto Ierusalimschy ( Brazilian Portuguese: [ʁoˈbɛʁtu jeɾuzaˈlĩski]; born 21 May 1960) is a Brazilian computer scientist, known for creating the Lua programming language.

Prof. Roberto Ierusalimschy had his PhD in Informatics from PUC-Rio in 1990. He joined PUC-Rio's Informatics Department in 1986, where he now holds the position of Associate Professor. His research activities currently focus on Programming Languages, mainly alternative languages such as scripting languages and domain-specific languages.
