Abbas Amanat (Persian: عباس امانت; born November 14, 1947) is an Iranian-born American historian, scholar, author, editor, and university professor. He serves as the William Graham Sumner Professor of History at Yale University and Director of the Yale Program in Iranian Studies .
Abbas Amanat is a renowned scholar of modern Middle East, Iran, Shi'ism and the Persianate world. He has written and edited several books and articles on various topics, and is the Editor-in-Chief of Sources for the Study of the Persianate World series.
