Santa Clara, California. Coordinates: 37°21′16″N 121°58′9″W. Santa Clara ( / ˌsæntə ˈklærə / SAN-tə KLARR-ə; Spanish for "Saint Clare") [8] is a city in the county of the same name. The city's population was 127,647 at the 2020 census, making it the eighth-most populous city in the Bay Area.
Santa Clara County was one of the original counties of California, formed at the time of statehood. Other towns began to spring up in Santa Clara County after the gold rush. In 1852 Santa Clara became a town with duly elected trustees.
