Jun 30, 2023 · The World Bank Group assigns the world’s economies to four income groups – low, lower-middle, upper-middle, and high. The classifications are updated each year on July 1, based on the GNI per capita of the previous calendar year.
The five United Nations member states that are not members of the World Bank are. Taiwan is the largest economy outside the World Bank, followed by Hong Kong and Macau. The two observer states at the UN, the Vatican City and State of Palestine, are also not members of the World Bank.
