Emma Thompson (born 15 April, 1959) is an Emmy, BAFTA, and two time-Academy Award-winning English actress, who portrayed Sybill Trelawney in the Harry Potter film series. She is also a comedian, screenwriter, and patron of the Refugee Council.
In 2017, Thompson appeared in a supporting role as Mrs. Potts (originally voiced by Angela Lansbury in the 1991 animated film) in Disney's live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, directed by Bill Condon and starring her Harry Potter co-star Emma Watson in the leading role of Belle, alongside Dan Stevens as the Beast.
