The lake is a reservoir formed by a dam in Parker Canyon in the south end of the Canelo Hills in southwestern Cochise County. Parker Canyon is a tributary to the Santa Cruz River in the San Rafael Valley. The facilities are maintained by Coronado National Forest division of the USDA Forest Service.

May 1, 2019 · Beautiful lake! Quite a long drive to get here, but very scenic. We parked by the tent camping area and walked down to the lake, continuing on a path over to the marina/boat launch area. Lots of families fishing from the shore and from the docks. Enjoyed a picnic lunch overlooking the lake.
