The whole idea was started as a real estate opportunity and later turned into one of the top tourist attractions in the city as well.
The World Islands is a project a few kilometers off the Dubai shoreline. I had the opportunity to sail out to The World Islands in 2008 and it was very impressive at that time, but you could see then the sea was eroding the man-made islands at an alarming rate.
