Proton has been staging a comeback since Geely acquired a 49.9% stake in June 2017. On Dec 12, 2018, it launched its first new model under the new management, the X70 SUV, which is based on Geely’s Boyue C-segment SUV.
Proton Holdings Berhad, an investment holding company, engages in the manufacture, assembly, and sale of motor vehicles and related products in Malaysia and internationally. The company also imports and distributes motor vehicles and related products, as well as manufactures automotive components.
