Snapshot. Accurate rape statistics are hard to obtain as many victims don't report due to reasons like embarrassment, fear of reprisal, or insufficient laws. Globally, about 35% of women have faced sexual harassment, but fewer than 40% seek help, and less than 10% reach out to law enforcement.
Globally, the highest reported rape rate per 100,000 people was documented in Botswana (92.93), followed by Lesotho (82.68) and South Africa (72.10). The United States fell 13th in the global rank, with a reported rape rate of 27.31 per 100,000 people.
Feb 2, 2024 · Based on D11’s statistics provided to Malay Mail, there were 8,386 rape and group rape cases involving child victims recorded in the 2017 to November 30, 2023 period, and 1,703 cases of incest — sexual intercourse between family members — involving child victims in the same period.

Most female victims of completed rape (79.6%) experienced their first rape before the age of 25; 42.2% experienced their first completed rape before the age of 18 years. More than one-quarter of male victims of completed rape (27.8%) experienced their first rape when they were 10 years of age or younger.”
