  2. There is no federal financial aid and limited scholarship funding available to international students attending U-M, though a short-term university loan may be available in the case of emergencies (see information below). Any scholarship consideration requires no additional application.

  3. University of Michigan Alumni Clubs throughout the country provide scholarships and funding for University of Michigan students from their communities. Scholarships are awarded to undergraduates on the basis of academic achievement, financial need, and community service.

  5. LSA Scholarships defines merit scholarships as any scholarships that do not have a need-based aid requirement. Our office awards approximately 40 of these scholarships each year to first-year incoming students.

  6. At U-M, scholarships are awarded based on several criteria including academic achievement, personal talents, interests, leadership qualities, financial need, or a combination of these. A separate application may be required for some scholarships, but most only require that you have submitted your university admission application.
