Butte County (/ ˈbjuːt / ⓘ) is a county located in the northern central part of the U.S. state of California. In the 2020 census, its population was 211,632. [6][7] The county seat is Oroville. [8] Butte County comprises the Chico, California, metropolitan statistical area.
