Great introduction to the Malaysian jungle. The park has clean, simple lodges with cold (refreshing) showers and ceiling fans. You need to hire a guide, which really adds to the experience. Activities include; jungle walks, cave exploration - with bats, river tubing - all can be arranged by your guide.
The 120-sq-km forest park can be explored on one- to six-day jungle treks organised from Kuala Lipis. Sightings of big mammals are rare but expect to see monkeys, wild boar, squirrels, civets and possibly nocturnal tapir; this is also a prime destination for birdwatching.
