ECG leads are divided into: Potential difference between the average of the limb leads (called the indifferent electrode) and each individual limb lead.
Common indications for performing an ECG include chest pain, syncope, palpitations, cyanotic episodes spells, seizures or ‘funny turns’, drug ingestion, abnormal cardiac examination, electrolyte abnormalities or a family history of sudden death or life-threatening event. Many ECG characteristics vary with age.
