Arcoxia is a potent, orally active & highly selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor. COX-2 is primarily responsible for the synthesis of prostanoid mediators of pain, inflammation and fever.
As Arcoxia 120mg Tablet 10s (strip) inhibits prostaglandin synthesis, this may cause uterine inertia and premature closure of ductus arteriosus in the last trimester of pregnancy. The risk for humans remained unknown. It is best to avoid Arcoxia 120mg Tablet 10s (strip) during pregnancy if possible.
