Raja Uda, Butterworth (19 March 2015) Raja Uda is a neighbourhood of Butterworth, Penang. Located to the north of the city centre, it developed on both sides of Jalan Raja Uda. Raja Uda was named after Raja Tun Uda Al-Haj Raja Muhammad, the first Governor of Penang after Independence, serving from 1957 to 1967.
Jalan Raja Uda is veritably the Chinatown of Butterworth. Among its biggest displays is the spectacular stringing of 10,000 silk lanterns over the entire artery in conjunction with Chinese New Year celebrations every year.
