The company, Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB) commenced operations as the national carrier on 1 September 2015 when Malaysian Airline System (MAS) was dissolved from Bursa Malaysia in 2014 and subsequently ceased operations on August 31, 2015.

Corporate logo Malaysia Airlines latest logo introduced in 2023 with 2017 livery. The history of the airline started in 1937, when Malayan Airways Limited was registered as a company. Flying operations started in 1947, with the aircraft bearing the symbol of a winged tiger.
The 1972 logo featured the former name “Malaysian Airline System” with the abbreviation “MAS” highlighted in red. The full name appeared in smaller letters, and on the left was a minimalistic red bird symbol.

Malaysian Airline System changed its name to Malaysia Airlines in October 1987. It retained the Kelantan kite from the previous logo, but gave it a visible slant to “express grace in motion but also thrust and dynamism”.
