As of end May 2024, there are some 189,340 refugees and asylum-seekers registered with UNHCR in Malaysia. Some 166,290 are from Myanmar, comprising some 109,230 Rohingyas, 26,350 Chins, and 30,710 other ethnic groups from conflict-affected areas or fleeing persecution in Myanmar.
Malaysia hosts some 181,000 refugees and asylum-seekers. 85% are from Myanmar, including some 103,000 Rohingyas. The remaining are from 50 other countries, including Pakistan, Yemen, Syria, and Somalia.

How to register with UNHCR Malaysia. To request registration, please submit the New Registration form available on the Refugee Malaysia website. All requests will be processed, but due to the high number of submissions, UNHCR will not be able to respond immediately.
