Zlín (in 1949–1989 Gottwaldov; Czech pronunciation: [zliːn]; German: Zlin) is a city in the Czech Republic. It has about 74,000 inhabitants. It is the seat of the Zlín Region and it lies on the Dřevnice River. It is known as an industrial centre.

Zlín (v letech 1949–1989 [3][4] Gottwaldov, německy Zlin) je statutární město na východě Moravy. Leží v údolí řeky Dřevnice na rozhraní Hostýnských a Vizovických vrchů. Je centrem Zlínského kraje. V samotném městě žije přibližně 74 tisíc[1] obyvatel, v jeho aglomeraci poté asi 130 tisíc obyvatel. Název.
Zlín was renamed Gottwaldov in 1949 after the first communist president of Czechoslovakia Klement Gottwald. After the Velvet revolution, Zlín regained its original name in 1990.
Před 70 lety, u příležitosti narozenin prezidenta Klementa Gottwalda, které měl 23. listopadu, padlo rozhodnutí, že Zlín bude přejmenován na Gottwaldov. Od 1. ledna 1949 tak nesl jméno prvního komunistického prezidenta, který se necelý rok před tím chopil veškeré moci v zemi.
