Hermosillo (Latin American Spanish: [eɾmoˈsiʝo] ⓘ), formerly called Pitic (as in Santísima Trinidad del Pitic and Presidio del Pitic), is a city in the center of the northwestern Mexican state of Sonora.
Hermosillo, city, capital of Sonora estado (state), northwestern Mexico. It is situated in the west-central part of the state at an elevation of about 700 feet (210 metres) near the confluence of the Sonora and San Miguel rivers (which both descend from the western flank of the Sierra Madre Occidental).
