Olly, Syd and Millie were the official mascots of the 2000 Summer Olympics, and Lizzie was the official mascot of the 2000 Summer Paralympics, both held in Sydney, Australia. Olly, Syd and Millie were named by Philip Sheldon from advertising agency DMBB and represented air, soil and water.
The three mascots are a duck-billed platypus (Syd), a kookaburra (Olly) and an echidna or spiny anteater (Millie). They symbolise the water, air and earth respectively. Their colours correspond to those of the Games emblem, and all three are typical examples of Australian fauna.

Sep 20, 2000 · In January 1997, SOCOG unveiled its trio of mascots a platypus named Syd, an echidna named Millie and a kookaburra named Olly for the 2000 Sydney Summer Olympics. The names of the mascot trio are derived from the Games Syd for the host city, Millie for the year and the new millennium, and Olly for the Olympics themselves.
