Established in 1974 under the Kuantan Port Authority, Kuantan Port has come a long way since its inception. With full operations commencing in 1984, it has emerged as the port of choice in the South China Sea region, steadily gaining prominence over the years. In 1998, Kuantan Port underwent privatisation to Kuantan Port Consortium Sdn Bhd.
Kuantan Port (Latitude 3°58'N, Longitude 103° 26'E) is a multipurpose port in the East Coast Region of Peninsular Malaysia, situated about 25 km to the north of Kuantan city and facing South China Sea.

Kuantan Port is a modern world-class privatised port operated by the Kuantan Port Consortium Sdn Bhd since 1998. It is equipped with modern liquid cargo bulk terminal which has a capacity to handle more than seven tonnes of cargo.

The Kuantan Port of the future is the nucleus of a much larger development, namely the Kuantan Port City. It has already started to take shape on a 13,000-hectare site that will be transformed to become a vibrant logistics and industrial hub by 2020.
