Peter Cartwright (born Sept. 1, 1785, Amherst county, Va., U.S.—died Sept. 25, 1872, near Pleasant Plains, Ill.) was a Methodist circuit rider of the American frontier. His father, a veteran of the Revolutionary War, took his family to Kentucky in 1790.
