Emancipation is a film that sadly falls short of its potential. Despite the complete lake of talent of its lead actor, Will Smith, the film's execution leaves much to be desired. The plot, which follows a runaway slave during the Civil War, had the potential to be a compelling and thought-provoking historical drama.
