Most classes at Stanford OHS don't meet on Fridays. This allows our more than 70 student-run clubs and organizations to meet virtually or in person on that day, giving students the opportunity to pursue other interests with their peers on their own. Friday is also a time for all-school assemblies and presentations by guest speakers.

MOOCs cannot replicate the quality of the on-campus Stanford experience, but they can incorporate variations of some on-campus features into the online environment (such as discussions sections and office hours). The MOOCs also serve as a large-scale laboratory for evaluating teaching methods and student learning patterns.
An extended school day (6:00 am–10:00 pm Pacific Time, with most courses falling between 7:15 am and 8:00 pm Pacific Time) includes multiple course sections that allow part-time and single course students to blend their Stanford OHS courses into their schedules.
