Synopsis. Pumpkin king Jack Skellington (speaking voice Chris Sarandon, singing Danny Elfman ), an elegantly attenuated skeleton, has delivered another scary Halloween. Oct 22, 1993 · THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS was an interesting idea for a family/horror/musical blend, but especially for a Tim Burton film, it wasn't really achieved all that well. Sure, this was a cute one, and it was definitely enjoyable; it just, looking at it from a critical perspective, was not the best movie.
