The film kind of empty-headedly moves along, with the film only coming truly alive in the last 20 minutes. In terms of characters, Henri Vidal’s protagonist, the kidnapped doctor, is fine. He's just in this shitty situation and you get his inner monologues detailing his feelings in the current state of the developing situation.
