History. The second oldest Christian Brothers school in the United States, St. John’s College was established in 1851 by Bro. John of Mary, FSC, and two other Christian Brothers in St. Matthew’s parish at 15th and H streets. These Brothers had been members of the faculty of Calvert Hall College in Baltimore since its founding in 1845.
