The lighthouse was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. The Pottawatomie Lighthouse was restored to the 1910 period through the efforts of the Friends of Rock Island, DNR staff and grants through the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. Since 2004 the Friends of Rock Island has staffed the lighthouse for tours.
That was a bit steep and more than I was hoping to pay. Just to take a car to Washington Island was $26 round trip, but that really is necessary because it is about a 20-minute drive from Washington Island ferry dock to Rock Island ferry dock. There are no motor vehicles on Rock Island, so the ferry from Washington to Rock Island is passenger only.

Hi John G, I don't know of any specific areas at Rock Island State Park where you can see eagles, but I do know the best area to see bald eagles is between Red Wing and Wabasha Minnesota between the months of December and March.
