In my experience, most hand baggage has a maximum size approaching 55cm x 45cm x 25cm but Lion Air's maximum size is a tiny 40cm x 30cm x 20cm. Is this a sneaky way for them to book extra hold baggage or what because it seems from their site that extra bags carry a heavy cost premium?

I booked flights from Bangkok to Chiang Mai with Thai Lion Air and through the process added extra baggage allowance to the 15kg already included, but upon completing the purchase I'm confused as the email I got through shows: Free Baggage Allowance : 15 KG. Excess Baggage : 15 KG
Their baggage calculation fee : Point A ---> Point B (transit) ---> Point C. Baggage fee : Point A to Point B PLUS Point B to Point C. You will end up paying a ridiculous amount for your baggage. With their new baggage policy, LionAir is a lot more expensive compared to AirAsia's prepaid baggage.. Edited: 5 years ago
