Oliver Reed was a kickass actor in his day. Even in his limited role in Gladiator, he was good. That said, I'm not sure he had the proper vibe for anything outside of Black Swordsman arc, and maybe the Golden Age. For Black Swordsman, he'd be dead-on as a brooding, internally angry and still haunted character.
