Thomas Johannes Gottschalk (born 18 May 1950) is a German radio and television host and entertainer. He is best known for hosting Wetten, dass..? , for many years Europe's biggest television show, [1] [2] which he steered to huge success in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and South Tyrol between 1987 and 2023.

In 1986, Thomas Gottschalk took over as presenter of the ZDF show "Wetten Dass...?", succeeding Frank Elstner. The show first aired in 1981. The new presenter made the program the most successful Saturday evening show in Europe with up to 15 million viewers.

In early November 2018, the Malibu residence of Thomas Gottschalk was one of 6,000 homes lost to the flames in a series of massive wildfires in northern and southern California that killed at least 25 people. At the time of the fire, Gottschalk was in Munich hosting a benefit gala for children.
