Striker Adam Armstrong arrived at Southampton from Blackburn Rovers in August 2021, shortly before the start of the new Premier League season. A prolific scorer with his former club, the Newcastle-born forward was integral to the Rovers attack, racking up 49 goals in 130 appearances for the Lancashire side.
Armstrong played a pivotal role in Blackburn’s development, helping them secure promotion to the EFL Championship at the first time of asking. Scoring 29 goals in 43 appearances last season alone, Armstrong was named the Championship’s PFA Player of the Year.
