Sejarah sekolah King Edward VII bermula pada Julai 1883 dengan penubuhan Central School atau Sekolah Pusat berpunca dari perkembangan pesat perlombongan bijih timah terutama di Kamunting. Bermula dengan 13 orang murid, bilangan tersebut bertambah menjadi 55 orang pada akhir tahun 1884.
