It may be more obsessively manicured than it’s predecessor, but “In The Shadows” is a quality Fate record that delivers the desired witch gospel in spectacular fashion. Lars plays drums on “Return of the Vampire ‘93” but buy it anyway.

But to my big surprise, this is not the guilt of a completely unknown amateur called Lars Ulrich who plays the drums on this track. To sum up, this comeback scored with both a pretty powerful, clean production and typical songs that did not bring shame to the awe-inspiring name of Mercyful Fate.
The result was the band's third album In the Shadows, which was released on June 22, 1993 through Metal Blade Records. The album also featured a guest appearance by Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich (a fellow Dane) on the track "Return of the Vampire".
